INSTRUCTION

PROJECT 4: SELF-TITLED

Self-titled is an exploration project for the students to express their own individuality and reflect their personality into digital art self-expression. 

The main idea is to build up self-confidence and discover their interest. 

In this project, we required to 

1. Write a biography about yourself 

Intro:

Hello! My name is Siam Siew Yong, and I am currently studying Bachelor of Design in Creative Media. I have a deep passion for drawing and reading.

Paragraph 1:

In my free time, I love to draw and immerse myself in books, which constantly provide me with new ideas and perspectives. These activities not only enhance my creativity but also fuel my passion for design.

Paragraph 2:

My dream is to become an accomplished graphic designer, and the drive to realize this dream is rooted in my deep passion for visual narratives and creative expression. From a young age, I have been drawn to the power of images and design to convey rich emotions.

Summary:

As I continue my studies at university, I am committed to refining my skills and exploring new creative avenues. I am eager to take on projects that challenge me and contribute to my growth as a designer

2. Write a statement about your work

Intro:

My animation poster centers around a girl who stands in the middle, surrounded by a rose, a handwritten letter, a music score, a butterfly, and a backdrop of fog and clouds.

Paragraph 1:

The girl in the middle serves as the emotional core of the poster. The story this poster presents revolves around her. Her tears reflect a profound sense of loss or longing, symbolizing vulnerability, sadness, and the complexity of human emotions. The roses are delicately colored and contrast with her pain, symbolizing emotional fragility and the enduring hope for healing.

Paragraph 2:

The music score symbolizes the rhythm of life and the power of music to convey and soothe emotions. And the butterfly represents the possibility of transformation and the idea that change can emerge from suffering. The fog and clouds emphasize the girl's feeling of detachment and the search for clarity.

Summary:

In summary, this poster combines various elements to convey a powerful emotional experience. The girl's tears, the contrasting rose, the letter, the music score, the butterfly, and the fog collectively explore themes of sorrow, numbness, and the quest for emotional understanding.

The main object is myself. I wanted to create themes of sadness, numbness and the search for emotional understanding.

My poster, titled "I Can't Feel Anything," depicts a girl at the center, surrounded by a rose, a handwritten letter, a music score, a butterfly, and a backdrop of fog and clouds. This arrangement visually expresses emotional numbness and the journey through sorrow.

The girl's tears, the emotional core of the piece, reflect profound loss and longing. The delicate rose contrasts with her pain, symbolizing fragility and hope for healing. The handwritten letter adds a personal element, hinting at a significant memory that deepens her sorrow.

The music score flowing through the scene represents life's rhythm and the soothing power of music. The butterfly signifies transformation and the possibility of change emerging from suffering. The fog and clouds create a dreamlike atmosphere, highlighting the girl's detachment and search for clarity.

Together, these elements weave a narrative of sorrow, numbness, and the quest for emotional understanding.

Reflection

Toward the end of this module, I used the software After Effect for the first time.  After Effects has empowered me to create dynamic animations and compelling visual effects, enriching my creative projects. The module provided a comprehensive understanding of digital photography, composition, and editing, enhancing my visual storytelling skills. Through practical assignments and projects, I developed both technical proficiency and a deeper passion for design and animation
