REFLECTION

Looking back to this module, I can say it's been challenging and rewarding also. Each task pushed me to manage my time better, improve my writing, and think more critically—not just about my topic, but also about how to present it clearly and meaningfully.

As for Task 1, the first few weeks were actually a bit confusing, especially when I misunderstood the instructions for the draft dissertation. But when I received feedback and corrected, I started to get a better understanding of the structure and requirements. I realized the importance of reading my literature very carefully and using every word wisely—especially with word limit challenges. Combining sections and revising the text helped me realize how important it is to stay concise yet still answer the research questions. The hardest part for me to write was the discussion section, since I had to respond directly to my research question using both my survey data and the literature that I had read. I also discovered that visuals—e.g., survey charts data, examples of images—are important in assisting with supporting an academic argument.

Task 2 and 3, which involved finalizing the dissertation and designing it visually, gave me more freedom to be creative. I enjoyed choosing the color palette and typography, and trying out different layouts helped me understand how visual elements can guide a reader’s attention. At the same time, I had to be very careful with image citations and Turnitin checks, which reminded me that academic honesty and professionalism are just as important as creativity.

Task 4 was new to me, as I've never thought about publishing anything. Condensing my dissertation into a journal article meant revisiting and perfecting my content even more, especially the abstract and discussion. Condensing so much information into a tight, concise paper was intriguing. I also noticed how painstakingly choosing the right supporting images can explain without cluttering the page.

Overall, this module taught me more than just research skills—it taught me about clarity, patience, design thinking, and academic responsibility. The feedback each week helped me improve bit by bit, and seeing my progress over time made me feel proud of the final result.

Thank you Ms Jinchi!💖💖
