PROJECT 1:INSTRUCTABLE POSTER

Requirement: Create an infographic poster based on ONE recipe from the Pasta Grannies YouTube channel. Watch one video and break down the cooking steps into clear and simple parts. Present the steps in a visual way so it is easy to understand.

Our poster should also show the grandma’s personality and the uniqueness of the dish through your design and storytelling.

So, I started to watch the videos of Pasta Grannies and find whether which one is suitable for my project 1.
I finally chose Garlic-Chili pepper &olive oil dressed Pasta--called Sthridhlja Pasta also.

After I watched it, I break down the recipe and wrote it in Google Docs. After that, I started to find some reference and inspiration through Pinterest.

Here's my reference and inspiration..

moodboard

Since the steps are quite long, I decided to use a grid layout to organize my instructable poster. Before I start, I also chose a soft and nostalgic color palette to match the overall mood and theme of the design.

I used Illustrator and Photoshop to complete it.

First, I drew the illustrations in Illustrator by using the pen tool and shape builder tool, and after that arranged them into the poster.

The minimalist style of Chili, Garlic and Fork, and also the character--Grandma.

After that, I arranged the text and grid layout, and placed the steps and illustrations into each section. The illustrations include the ingredients, cooking tools, and key steps of the recipe to help make the process easier to understand.

After I finished my poster, I imported it to Photoshop, to add some filters and textures to make it look more warm and nostalgic, and to give the design more depth and character.

FINAL OUTPUT

After I done this, I started to figure out my next step in PROJECT 3<<

REFLECTION

For Project 1, I learned how to turn a recipe into a clear and fun visual story. I chose the Garlic-Chili & Olive Oil Pasta and broke down the steps, using a grid layout to keep everything organized. I drew illustrations in Illustrator and added filters in Photoshop to give the poster a warm, nostalgic feel. This project helped me practice combining text, visuals, and layout, and taught me how design can make information easier to understand. Overall, I feel more confident in creating clear and engaging infographic posters.
